Fire in Sydney: building collapses in flames 0:47

(CNN) -- Two teenagers "turned themselves in" hours after a disused building was destroyed in a fire in Sydney, Australian police said Friday.

Although no injuries have been reported, police said 15 homeless people had spent the night in the building before it burned down.

Police said they had contacted 13 of those people so far.

At a news conference on Friday, acting deputy commissioner Paul Dunstan said two 13-year-olds had "turned themselves in" late Thursday night and were "assisting police with investigations."

Dunstan called on "three or four" other "young people present during the fire" to come forward with their parents "and give their side of the story."

The fire burned throughout Thursday night and caused a "major structural collapse" at the building, located in central Sydney, Dunstan said.

Images showed one of the walls of the building collapsing.

"We continue to moisten the hot spots. We will continue for some time to get the final extinguishing (of the fire) there," said Jeremy Fewtrell, deputy commissioner of Fire and Rescue.

Fewtrell said engineers were now assessing the building to determine the integrity of the burned structure.
