In the Kyiv Digital application, voting has ended on the replacement of busts of Russian cultural figures at the Universitet metro station.

This is stated in the results published in the application.

  • Instead of the bust of Alexander Pushkin, the majority of voting participants, which is 42%, want to see a bust of Vasyl Stus, a Ukrainian poet, literary critic, translator and one of the most active representatives of the sixties movement.
  • 47% of votes for Mykhailo Hrushevsky were cast in the vote on whom to replace the bust of Maxim Gorky. Mykhailo Hrushevsky is a historian, philosopher, folklorist, associate professor at Kyiv University, who emigrated to Vienna due to oppression of Ukrainian culture.
  • Instead of the bust of Mikhail Lomonosov, the majority of voting participants supported the installation of a bust of Prince Vladimir the Great of Kiev (he scored 37%).
  • And the bust of Dmitry Mendeleev in the subway is proposed to be replaced by a bust of surgeon Nikolai Pirogov (30%).

Voting started two weeks ago. From then until May 24, all citizens could cast their vote in the application "Kyiv Digital" in the section "E-democracy" - "Polls". On average, about 62 thousand people took part in the vote to replace four busts.

Recall that on May 18, deputies of the Kyiv City Council renamed two metro stations and one design station. Druzhby Narodiv metro station became Zvirynetska, and Leo Tolstoy Square became Ukrainian Heroes Square. One of the future metro stations, which are being built on the Vinogradar microdistrict – "Prospekt Pravdy" was renamed into "Varshavskaya"
