Counterintelligence is the heart of the SBU.

This was stated in a comment to journalist Dmytro Komarov by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk.

If you look at the statistics, more than 300 enemy agents over the past year were identified by the SBU.

An enemy agent is not always a person in handcuffs in the dock.

"At a certain stage, if he succumbs to the fact that we "lace" him, recruit him, in the future we can misinform the enemy through him, influence him and receive some data from him," Malyuk explained.

And there are those who receive from 13 to 15 years in prison - on average, such terms are now given by court decision under Article 111 - treason.

Earlier, Malyuk said that during the year of a full-scale war, the SBU neutralized hundreds of enemy agents on the territory of Ukraine.

He also reported that the number of Russian cyberattacks on Ukraine has increased fivefold compared to 2020.
