German Chancellor Olaf Scholz intends to resume his contacts with Russian dictator President Vladimir Putin. However, this will happen "in due time" when conditions arise for such a conversation.

Scholz said this in an interview with the newspaper Koelner Stadt-Anzeiger.

"My last phone call [to Putin] was some time ago, but I plan to talk to Putin again in due time," the chancellor said.

He expressed the opinion that it would be possible to resume contacts with the dictator even after the current virtually complete cessation of relations due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Asked about the prospects for peace talks, Scholz said: "Putin must understand that the war cannot be ended with "some frozen peace" and "turning the current front line into a new 'border' between Russia and Ukraine."

According to him, first of all, we should talk about "a just peace, a prerequisite for which is the withdrawal of Russian troops."

Scholz declined to answer the question whether Putin should be overthrown from the presidency: "I do not believe in such speculative issues. In the end, there must be an agreement between the governments of Moscow and Kyiv," the chancellor said.

We will remind, earlier Scholz spoke about the end of the war. According to him, the Russian war in Ukraine will not end with the victory of the aggressor. Moreover, the imperialism of Russian President Vladimir Putin will collapse.
