Sahiba Qafarova, chairman of the National Assembly on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia, met with the country's Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic.

The Prime Minister, who warmly welcomed the chairman of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, said relations between our friendly countries were progressing successfully, according to the EPA from the Department of Press and Public Relations of the National Assembly.

He noted that Azerbaijan is a country of great importance to Serbia. Mother Brnabich has stressed that positive political dialogue and mutual trips allow these ties to deepen. The prime minister welcomed Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ilham Əliyev's trip to the country last year and his meeting with the head of state of Azerbaijan, noting the success of the trip.

He noted the importance of economic relations between our countries, including cooperation in the energy sector, saying the issue of energy security is crucial in terms of national security. The prime minister emphasized Azerbaijan's important role in ensuring Europe's energy security.

Mother Brnabich expressed solidarity and mutual support for Azerbaijan and Serbia on many issues, including sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Thanks to the hospitality shown, the chairman of the National Assembly, Sahiba Qafarova, highlighted the importance of high-level and high-level mutual trips between our friendly and strategic countries. Spiker emphasized the importance of President Ilham Əliyev's official visits to Serbia in November 2022, as well as President Alexander Vucic's official and business trips to Azerbaijan in May 2018.

At the meeting, the chairman of the National Assembly noted that high-level political contacts provide strong grounds for cooperation in other areas of the bilateral agenda. He has expressed satisfaction with the successful development of relationships covering the economy and trade. The chairman of the National Assembly said that relations between legislative bodies were among the positive factors in bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia. He said that mutual trips had contributed to the development of this cooperation. Speaker Sahiba Qafarova, who said the trip was the first trip to Serbia as chairman of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, welcomed a few days ago that Vladimir Orlic, chairman of the Serbian National Assembly, had traveled to our country to attend a special session dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani National Assembly. Sahib Qafarova also pointed out that there are good opportunities for further cooperation between our parliaments within the framework of a number of international parliamentary organizations. The chairman of the National Assembly has expressed confidence that a memorandum of understanding signed between the Azerbaijani and Serbian parliaments will further expand relations.

The chairman of the National Assembly also reported on the situation in the region and on the extensive construction and reconstruction of Azerbaijan's liberated territories.

The meeting discussed other issues of mutual interest.
