The new Parliament building is as big and equipped with smart features. Equally huge is the story of its construction. In a way, the whole country has come together to build the 'temple of democracy'. Materials for the construction of the new Parliament building have been sourced from different states of the country. This reflects the true spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the new Parliament building on Sunday, May 28. PM Modi will also install the historic Rajdand Sengol. Sengol will be placed in front of the Lok Sabha Speaker's podium.

Let's know from where the goods were imported in the construction of the new Parliament:

Teak wood for the new Parliament has been imported from Nagpur in Maharashtra.

Sandstone i.e. sandstone (red and white) has been purchased from Sarmathura in Rajasthan.

Carpets for the new Parliament were sourced from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh.

Bamboo wood flooring has been ordered from Agartala, the capital of Tripura.

Stone Jali Works have been taken from Rajnagar in Rajasthan and Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

The Ashok symbol has been sourced from Aurangabad in Maharashtra and Jaipur in Rajasthan.

The Ashok Chakra for the new Parliament has been taken from Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

Some furniture for the new Parliament building was also imported from Mumbai.

Red lakh has been taken from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.

White marble stones have been purchased from Ambaji in Rajasthan.

Saffron green stone has been imported from Udaipur in Rajasthan.

The work of stone carving was taken from Abu Road and Udaipur. Some stones were

also sourced from Kotputli in Rajasthan - M-Sand was purchased from Chakri Dadri in Haryana, Fly Ash Bricks from NCR, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Brass work and pre-cast trench were taken from Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

-LS/RS false sealing steel structure taken from Daman and Diu.
