We have the will to do our best. This is one month and a government without political affiliations, which will be fully functional, caretaker government spokesman Ilias Syakandaris said before the ceremony.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the caretaker government's office will hold a meeting at the Maximos residence, after which the ministers will head to their ministries for the ceremonies of surrender of power.

The parliamentary elections, held on May 21, were won by New Democracy, but despite high percentages of the vote, the party refused to form a government because it did not get an absolute majority in parliament. At the snap elections on June 25, another electoral system will be implemented, giving the leading party additional seats.
