German Chancellor Olaf Scholts has said he plans to discuss with Russian President Vladimir Putin what happened in Ukraine again by phone over time.

The EPA reports that in an interview with Cologne Stadt-Anzeiger, the head of government reminded him that it had been a long time since the last conversation.

"But I intend to talk to Putin again at the appropriate time," Scholts said.

Asked about a possible power change in Russia, the chancellor replied: "I don't even raise speculative questions like this. In all cases, an agreement must be signed between the moscow and Kiev authorities."

It should be noted that the last telephone conversation between Scholts and Putin took place on December 2 last year.
