Mines seriously hinder the development of countries.

The EPA reports that it was said by Matthew Offord, a member of the British Parliament, during a panel discussion of an international conference on "Fighting Mines - The Road to Sustainable Development Goals" in Baku.

He cited mines in Vietnam, Cambodia, as an example, saying the problem had posed a serious problem for the development of these countries over the years: "Therefore, the clearance of mines is rightly one of the goals of sustainable development. At the same time, the process requires considerable financial resources. I appreciate that the Azerbaijani government has made this issue a national priority. Clearing mines is important for the country's prosperity. Azerbaijan's experience can be an example for other countries. I believe that Ukraine will take an example from the road map of Azerbaijan regarding the cleanup of mines."

He has stressed that another key target is the use of areas cleared of mines, to take advantage of these areas: "We need to solve this problem, keep it for future generations."
