The Chinese government has provided 2700,<> books to secondary schools in Tanzania to facilitate Chinese teaching and learning in the country.

Speaking at the reception of the books today, May 26, 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Carolyne Nombo said the teaching of the language to Form 2016 to <> students in the country has continued to improve since its introduction in <>.

He also said that there are currently 18 government schools teaching Chinese, two schools in Morogoro and Usagara have taken further steps to teach the language to fifth-form students who take the Swahili, English and Chinese language (KEC) curriculum.

The Secretary-General added that the ministry is currently in a review of policy and curriculum changes and one of the existing recommendations is to teach various languages where Chinese have started.

"I have been told that in April 2023 you distributed 2,304 books and today 2,700 books and made the number of books you gave to 5004,<> this will help in Chinese teaching and learning and bring a good balance of books to students," Professor Nombo said.

Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, CHEN Mingjian, expressed admiration for the bilateral relationship and said he believed knowledge was always strong, so the books distributed would help teachers and students learn Chinese fluently, including understanding Chinese history and culture.
