'Sengol' will be installed as a heritage in the new Parliament building...

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh):

The Golden Sengol, kept at the Allahabad Museum, has been shifted to the national capital ahead of the inauguration of the new Parliament building on Sunday. 'Sengol', the symbol of transfer of power from the British to Indians, will be installed as a legacy in the new Parliament building.

Allahabad Museum curator Vaman Wankhede told news agency ANI that the entire collection of former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has been kept in the Allahabad Museum and the historic 'Sengol' was shifted to the National Museum last year.

"The foundation stone of the Allahabad Museum was also laid by former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru... He had donated more than 1,200 items to the Allahabad Museum, and was then donated by the museum's curator S.C. It used to be art... Pandit Nehru wanted his entire collection to be kept here... Along with all the things, this gold stick was also kept in the collection..."

"It (Sengol) is a 162-cm-long stick with gold polished on it... It was shifted to the National Museum on November 4, 2022..."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to adopt Sengol as the national symbol of Amrit Kal. The new Parliament building will witness the same event when Adhinam (mahant of the monastery) will repeat the same ceremony (Sengol was given to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1947) and present the Sengol to PM Narendra Modi.

The same Sengol, built in 1947, will be installed by the Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha, which is mainly close to the Speaker's seat. It will be displayed for the country to see and will be taken out on special occasions.
