Britain will be one of the first countries to begin training the Ukrainian military on Western F-16 fighter jets.

It is reported by Foreign Policy with reference to an unnamed representative of the British government.

"This will be ground basic training for Ukrainian pilots, who will then be ready for more specific training on the F-16 or on other aircraft," the official said.

According to the publication, at least 20 Ukrainian pilots who "already speak English well to speed up the course will undergo initial training."

It is noted that the training on the NATO course "Introduction to the basics of fighter management" will take place on simulators and real aircraft. However, at first it will not be F-16s, but simpler fighters.

Recall that the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine commented on the information that Ukrainian pilots have already begun training on F-16 fighters. They said that direct training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters in Europe has not yet begun. Currently, specialists are being trained before the start of training.

Spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ihnat said that Ukrainian pilots have extensive experience and hours of flight, including combat ones. Therefore, everyone will be trained abroad individually.
