In Hong Kong, the watch of China's last emperor Pu Yi was sold at auction for a record $6.2 million.

It is reported by Reuters.

The clock once belonged to the last emperor of the Chinese Qing dynasty. An Asian collector living in Hong Kong called and bought a rare Patek Philippe watch belonging to Pu Yi.

The watch was given by the emperor to his interpreter, Georgy Permyakov, who was a friend of Pu Yi when he was imprisoned in the Soviet Union between 1945 and 1950.

Thomas Perazzi, head of watches at auction house Phillips Asia, told Reuters that this was the highest result for any wristwatch that ever belonged to the emperor.

Pu Yi was born in 1906. He was the last emperor of the Chinese Qing dynasty, who began his reign at the age of two.

We will remind, at auction Sotheby's in Hong Kong for $ 57.7 million sold an extremely rare pink diamond Williamson Pink Star. The name of the stone refers to another piece of jewelry given to the late Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain for the wedding – this, apparently, helped to double the initial cost of the lot.
