Training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters may begin in the coming weeks.

This was stated by the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin at a meeting of "Ramstein" may 25.

"Last week, President Biden announced that the United States will support joint efforts with our allies and partners to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation aircraft, including the F-16. We hope that these exercises will begin in the coming weeks," he said.

According to the head of the Pentagon, the exercises will help strengthen and improve the capabilities of the Ukrainian Air Force in the long term. It will also complement short- and medium-term security agreements.

Austin added that the joint efforts of allies are intended to demonstrate the unity of partners and long-term commitment to Ukraine's self-defense.

We will remind, the UK will be one of the first countries to begin training the Ukrainian military on Western F-16 fighters.

The Air Force says that Ukrainian pilots have extensive experience and hours of flying, including combat ones. Therefore, everyone will be trained abroad individually.
