The lower house of the British Parliament (House of Commons) unanimously adopted a decision to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
It is reported by Evropeyska Pravda.
"That is why we must reassure the Ukrainian authorities and the international legal order that the UK – at least the British Parliament – will not ignore war crimes and crimes against humanity," said Conservative MP Pauline Latham.
She stressed that now Russia is stealing Ukrainian grain in the occupied Ukrainian territories.
The parliament called the need to recognize the Holodomor as genocide an expression of solidarity with Ukraine and a signal that famine cannot be used as a means of warfare.
In general, the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people has already been recognized by the parliaments of almost three dozen countries, including in Europe.
Recall that the Slovenian parliament also recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Earlier, the French Senate recognized the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians.
