(CNN) -- The Order of the Jesuits of Mexico reported on Wednesday through a statement the murder of Fray Javier García Villafaña, parish priest of Capacho, Michoacán, belonging to the Order of St. Augustine and the archdiocese of Morelia, Mexico.

The Jesuits added in their statement that the parish priest of Capacho had been killed on May 21, on the road between Cuitzeo and Huandacareo when he was on his way to celebrate Mass.

So far the authorities have not commented on the murder of the parish priest.
