What to expect from the movie about the Barbie doll? 2:04

(CNN) — She's just a Barbie who lives in... the real world?

The new trailer for the Greta Gerwig-directed movie "Barbie," which was released Thursday, May 25, offers the first full look at Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) leaving Barbie Land to explore the "real world." Let's go ahead and say that today is "the best day ever!"

The best day, until you see Barbie having an existential crisis in all its glory.

"Some things have happened that could be related," Barbie tells friends, adding that she has experienced a "cold shower" and has fallen off the roof, instead of floating as usual.

And that's not the worst of it.

"And my heels... they're on the ground," Barbie tells her Barbie friends, who scream at the sight of Barbie's flat feet. It's pandemonium, and it's hilarious.

As Barbie tries to solve this problem, her first stop is to see the "weird Barbie", played by Kate McKinnon, who tells her that she has to go to the "real world".

"You can go back to your normal life or you can learn the truth about the universe," says Barbie Rara, as she makes Barbie choose between the pink-heeled path or that of the human Birkenstock sandal.

And so begins Barbie's journey with Ken through the real world. "Barbie in the real world? That's impossible," says a human named Gloria, played by America Ferrera.

While Cass Elliots' "Make Your Own Kind of Music" plays in the background, snippets of Barbie's journey around the world are shown. We see Barbie being arrested, Ken attempting to perform an appendectomy on a human, and Barbie fleeing from the villainous Mattel CEO played by Will Farrell, who is desperate to put her "back in a box."

This Thursday, it was also announced that among the artists featured on the soundtrack of the film are Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Haim, Tame Impala, Nicki Minaj, Karol G and one of the protagonists of the film, Ryan Gosling -whose musical number did not appear in the trailer-. Producer and DJ Mark Ronson is the soundtrack's executive music producer.

The movie "Barbie" will hit theaters on July 21.
