There is a possibility of rain in the capital Delhi today.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain with strong thunderstorms in many areas of the capital Delhi today. Light rain and gusty winds with speed reaching 30-50 kmph are likely to prevail at isolated places over North Delhi and Northeast Delhi, including Burari, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Loni Dehat and Hindon. In the coming days, due to the change in western disturbance, there is a possibility of relief from the scorching heat and a fall in temperature.

Imd scientist Kuldeep Srivastava said that there is an effect of a western disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir, which has been predicted to hit the northeast India region and the plains of northeast Rajasthan. He also said that light rain and cloudy sky are expected in Delhi.

"A rainfall of 1-2 cm can bring down the temperature by 4-5 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorm and lightning are expected in Delhi-NCR on May 24-25.

However, there has been a heatwave-like situation in the Delhi-NCR region for the last two days. There will be a slight increase in temperature, but clouds will remain surrounded and there may be light drizzle.

"There is also a possibility of hailstorm in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, adjoining Punjab and some areas of north Rajasthan during this period. On May 24 and 25, there will be thunderstorms and lightning in Delhi NCR.

The IMD has also predicted that strong winds with speed reaching 23-24 kmph are likely to prevail over West Bengal and Sikkim on May 50 and 60.
