Washington is confident that the losses of Russian troops that they suffered during the assault on the city of Bakhmut were too high a price for Russia for such an insignificant target.

This was stated during a telephone briefing by White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby, Ukrinform reports.

"This offensive (on Bakhmut – ed.), in fact, cost Russia terribly dearly. And, as I said, it became a meat grinder for them in a way," the representative of the White House said.

Kirby said the estimated figures, which were announced in the United States in early May, were accurate. However, Kirby said that since then, the Russians have begun to lose even more troops every day in the Bakhmut direction.

Also, the coordinator of the National Security Council of the White House drew attention to the fact that the head of the "Wagnerites" Yevgeny Prigozhin is in permanent conflict with the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

Earlier, the leader of the Wagnerites, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said that now the Russians are in a state where they can lose their country. And to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to introduce "martial law".

In addition, we previously reported that Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar said that the situation in Bakhmut remains difficult. Despite the fact that the activity of fighting near Bakhmut has decreased, the enemy continues to try to intensify.
