The Foreign Ethics Commission of the Peruvian Congress (Parliament) has voted to declare "persona non grata" by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador for criticizing Peruvian rule.

"In favor of 11 votes, the International Commission of Ethics has approved a resolution condemning the statements of Mexican President Andres Lopez Obrador and declaring it a 'persona non-grata'," the parliament's Twitter page says.

The initiative must now be looked at at at a plenary session of Congress. In February of this year, the Peruvian parliament declared Colombian President Gustavo Petron a "persona non grata."

Earlier, the Mexican leader called Peruvian President Dina Boluarten a "conspirator" and once again declared that Mexico would not pass the chairmanship of the Pacific Alliance to Lima. The Mexican leader said Boluarte had come to power illegally because former head of state Pedro Castillo was unfairly removed from office.
