Scientists have found that at least 28 asteroids with a width of 1 km or more in the next 1000 years can fly to a very close distance to the Earth, that is, much closer than the moon.

Writes about it ScienceAlert.

Astronomers warn that the fall of an asteroid, even 1 km wide or a little more, can kill hundreds of millions of people, cause global destruction and climate change.

The authors of the new study decided to find out what is the probability that asteroids with a width of 1 km or more will crash into the Earth in the next 1000 years. To do this, they created a simulation of flight paths of very dangerous space stones.

Of all known large dangerous asteroids, astronomers have identified 28 objects that have a chance to crash into the Earth in the future. These stones, as shown by modeling, will fly closest to our planet and will be closer than the moon.

The researchers say that in the next 1000,<> years, no large asteroid will fall down Earth. Although scientists believe that the gravitational influence of the Sun, other planets and the unpredictable conditions of space can make adjustments to the trajectory of a large asteroid. However, due to such events, the chance of a huge stone colliding with the Earth exists, it is very small, astronomers say.

Previously, scientists first observed the absorption of the planet by a dying star. According to the hypothesis of astronomers, the same fate awaits the Earth in about 5 billion years, when the Sun completes its stellar life and goes into the state of a red giant.
