On May 22, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Əliyev, met with Gitanas Nauseda, the President of the Republic of Lithuania.
The EPA reports that at the meeting, the Lithuanian president highly appreciated Azerbaijan's achievements, especially in the last decade.
During the discussion, the importance of mutual trips by heads of state was emphasized. This was especially highlighted by the Lithuanian President's visit to Azerbaijan and the meetings held on that trip.
The meeting discussed bilateral issues, emphasized the importance of further expansion of economic-commercial ties and further increased trade cycles. Cooperation was discussed in such areas as information technology, cybersecurity, renewable energy, investment, and transportation. The importance of the business forum to be held in Lithuania and the importance of establishing direct contacts between business circles was highlighted.
During the discussion, discussions were held on transportation issues, including projects to unite the Xerxes Sea and the Baltic Sea. Lithuania's support for Azerbaijan's cooperation with the European Union and NATO was highly valued. Lithuania played an active role in the Twinning Projects under the Eastern Cooperation Programme between the European Union and Azerbaijan. It also highlighted the significance of the three documents signed today.
The discussion highlighted the importance of lithuania's experience in the field of ecological hazards and the distribution of Lithuania's experience in waste management.
The Agreement on Youth Policy, signed between our countries today, also highlighted the importance of cooperation in youth policy, the education of more than 200 Azerbaijani students in Lithuania, and the existence of cooperation between educational institutions of our countries.
At the same time, an exchange of views was held on cooperation in the field of prosecution, and the relevance of both countries emphasized the importance of signing documents between prosecutors.
At the same time, it was noted that the Azerbaijani community in Lithuania contributed to the development of the country and that they were loyal citizens of the country.
The meeting also discussed bilateral relations and the normalization of Armenia-European relations.
President Ilham Əliyev informed his Lithuanian counterpart about the views of our country on the conduct of talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the security of the Southern Caucasus.
