The beaches of Odessa are crowded. Parents even go into the water with their children without worrying about high mine danger. People swim and jump from the piers, as well as arrange entertainment activities.

Videos from the beaches of Odessa appeared on Telegram channels.

Vacationers sunbathe, swim and take part in recreational activities. At the same time, there is currently no official decision on whether locals and guests of the city will be allowed to relax on the Black Sea coast:

"Indeed, the issue is very relevant, because we understand that people will still come. We understand that this is summer, people want the sun at least a little. But we know what the military's recommendations are. We understand that this is a city that is not in the rear," city hall spokesperson Natalia Maltseva told TSN.ua.

According to the Odessa newspaper "Dumskaya", citing its own sources, the city council intends to allocate two municipal beaches for recreation. The issue of opening locations is discussed with the military. Which beaches will be available – not yet decided:

"On such beaches it will be possible to sunbathe, but swimming will remain prohibited," writes "Dumskaya".

Spokesman of the Odesa Regional Administration Serhiy Bratchuk said during a briefing that as of early May, monitoring of the security situation by the military command is underway and only after that an appropriate decision will be made. He stressed that the coast is closed and urged not to go to the beaches and not to swim, as it is dangerous.

Head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine Natalia Gumeniuk said during a briefing that the opening of the holiday season is inappropriate:

"We have sent information to local authorities on what threats there may be... On our part, we will insist on ensuring the safety of people - bomb shelters, monitoring the water surface. We understand that the region must develop. But safety is at the forefront," Humeniuk said.

Recall that in the sea near Odessa destroyed an anti-ship mine. Military sailors once again warn Odesa residents and guests about the constant mine threat, especially after bad weather. Suspicious items are strongly advised not to approach, and immediately notify the Defense Forces about the findings.
