PM Modi meets Japanese PM Fumio Kishida

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in Hiroshima, Japan, where the two leaders discussed ways to enhance India-Japan friendship in a range of areas, including trade, economy and culture. Pm Modi is participating in the G7 Summit being held under the Japanese presidency at the invitation of Fumio Kishida.

According to news agency ANI, PM Modi said, 'I congratulate you for the excellent organization of G-7. Your (PM Kishida) visit to India was a memorable one. The Bodhi tree that I gave you, you planted in Hiroshima and as it grows, India-Japan relations will get stronger. On Friday, PM Modi arrived in Hiroshima on the first leg of his three-nation tour and is expected to attend more than 40 events.

Prime Minister Modi said that the Indian Parliament celebrates Hiroshima Day every year, and added that Japanese diplomats are always present on the occasion. In this meeting, the leaders of the two countries discussed ways to coordinate the efforts of their respective G-20 and G-7 Presidency.
