The couple first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted kissing at a Los Angeles restaurant in October 2022.

At the time, Eilish had yet to confirm her romance with The Neighbourhood frontman and vocalist, but later in November, they went public with their relationship, when Eilish and Rutherford attended LACMA's Art+Film gala and posed together on the red carpet.

Following her red carpet debut, Eilish told Vanity Fair that, despite criticism for their age difference (Rutherford is ten years older than her), her relationship with the musician is "really great and I'm very excited and happy about it."

He also told the outlet that he loved being able to initially capture Rutherford's attention, and that in a relationship he values freedom.

"I want them to trust me and I want to be able to have space and I want love and attention," she said then, adding that she feels "equal admiration is really important."
