A fire due to a self-ignited battery of an electric scooter burned down yesterday the home of Ku-Ku Band guitarist Tsvetan Nedyalkov. The vehicle was plugged in to charge when the battery exploded. Miraculously, there were no injuries in the incident.

After the stress of what happened, the musician urged people to be careful when buying electric scooters. The one that exploded in his apartment was recently bought for his son Martin.

"With proper operation, scooters are absolutely safe. In 95% of cases, they have at least three protections from electrical problems. Installation. But I remind you that proper exploitation is important. These are lithium-ion batteries, they should not be wet, they should not be driven in rainy weather," Vladislav Stoitsov, co-chairman of the Association for Electromobility, told bTV.

According to him, in Sofia the owners of electric scooters are already over 10,000.

"The problem with electric batteries is primarily related to their operation. Batteries are primarily influenced by external conditions. There are also lithium batteries in our phones. Such an incident very rarely happens, "said the other co-chairman of the association and owner of a service for scooters Yordan Krastanov.

According to him, the reason for the battery explosion is most likely the rainy weather in recent days in Sofia.
