The French Senate (upper house of the country's parliament) voted to recognize the Holodomor, which took place in 1932-1933, as genocide of Ukrainians.

This was announced by Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.

He thanked the French senators for such a decision, which was historic and restores justice.

"The French Senate has just recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. I am grateful to the French senators for this historic vote, which restores justice and honors the memory of millions of victims," Kuleba wrote.

In addition, the Foreign Minister said that such crimes should never be repeated and should never be forgotten.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that Belgium on March 9 recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
