In the Lviv region, a 13-year-old girl gave birth to a child with a 15-year-old boy, who now faces an article for rape.

This is stated in the Unified Register of Court Decisions, informs the UP.

It is reported that on May 4, the Horodotsky district court received a petition from the prosecutor's office, in which judges were asked to choose a measure of restraint for a 15-year-old boy suspected of raping a girl who was not yet 14 years old.

The court ruling states that the suspect is a 2nd year student of the Mykolaiv Vocational Lyceum.

Sources in the prosecutor's office say that the young man and the girl dated for a long time. Sexual relations between them took place by mutual consent. It is reported that the girl became pregnant last summer, and in the spring the couple had a child, after which the couple got married.

The fact of the crime was discovered by the police, said the spokesperson of the National Police of Lviv region Svitlana Dobrovolska.

She also noted that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing (Article 152 of the Criminal Code).

On April 28, the newly-made father received from law enforcement officers a suspicion of a particularly serious crime – rape of a minor.

The court released the boy on personal recognizance, choosing a preventive measure for sixty days – until July 2, 2023 inclusive.

During the specified period, a young man must come to the investigator, prosecutor and / or court upon request, as well as inform about the change of his residence.

If proven guilty, the guy faces a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison.

In Ukraine, only persons who have reached the age of marriage can officially marry: men – 18 years old, women – 17.
