The head of Mariupol's patrol police, Mikhail Vershinin ("Kot"), released from Russian captivity last September, spoke about the conditions of Azovstal defense commanders in Turkey.

He said this in an interview with UP.

According to Vershinin, now the captured "Azovians" are scattered in all prisons on the territory of the Russian Federation. More than 650 "Azovians" still remain in captivity.

"Nobody suffers the way Azov soldiers suffer there. We need to understand all Russia's hatred of Azov. Those people are at maximum risk," says the head of the Mariupol patrol police.

He also described the conditions under which Ukrainian commanders of Azovstal are being held in Turkey: Denys Prokopenko "Radis", Serhiy Volynskyi "Volyn", Svyatoslav Palamar "Kalyna", Denys Shlega and Oleh Khomenko.

"I have great hope that the guys who are in captivity in Turkey will come out soon. I emphasize that the guys are in captivity in Turkey. If someone thinks that there are some tsarist conditions and all that, he is very mistaken," Vershinin explained.

According to him, the commanders of Azovstal are restricted in movement, limited information, cannot freely call.

"Yes, conditions are better than other people, but they are in captivity. And when they say to me that: "But the commanders of the Azov are sitting in Turkey, resting" – this is. They don't 'sit, rest,'" Kot said.

As a reminder, on September 22, 2022, Ukraine returned the defenders of Mariupol from Russian captivity, among them there are Azov soldiers (photos). 200 of our heroes were exchanged for Putin's godfather Viktor Medvedchuk, and the commanders of Azovstal - for 55 occupiers.

The five commanders of Mariupol's defenders – Denys Prokopenko "Redis", Serhiy Volynskyi "Volyn", Svyatoslav Palamar "Kalyna", Denys Shlega and Oleh Khomenko – will remain in Turkey until the end of the war. These were the terms of the exchange.
