[Reporter Huang Ziyang/New Taipei Report] Since the end of February, there has been a serious odor along Taliaokeng River in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City. City Councilor Weng Zhenzhou asked about the odor problem today (12th), saying that the Environmental Protection Bureau once said that the source of the odor is the accumulation of algae fermentation and factory emissions Formed, but yesterday it was discovered that someone was stealing waste water.

Cheng Dawei, director of the Environmental Protection Bureau, said that the initial smell test and analysis was speculated to be algae fermentation and factory emissions. After subsequent investigations, it was speculated that it might be caused by illegal emissions. The city government will severely punish any illegal emissions.

Weng Zhenzhou said that Xinzhuang Xinshu Road, Qiongtai Road, Qionglin Road, and Jianguo Road had serious odors for four consecutive days starting from February 22. Although Cheng Dawei led a team to investigate, the problem was not resolved. On March 22, it was discovered The water in the ditch at the bottom of the lake was stained red, and the smell has reappeared in recent days. Yesterday, it was discovered that suspicious water and fertilizer trucks and chemical tank trucks were secretly discharging waste water into the side ditch on Sanduo Road and Zhongzheng Road.

He said that the Environmental Protection Agency said on February 17 that the source of the odor was the accumulation of algae fermentation and factory emissions, but there was illegal discharge. He wanted to know whether the city government knew the real source of the odor.

Cheng Dawei said that in February, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the Environmental Protection Agency judged from the taste detection and analysis that it should be alkanes and polycyclic aromatic substances, and judged the types of surrounding industries. It is speculated that it is caused by long-term accumulation; Occasional odors occur, and the Environmental Protection Agency judges that the problem is not simple, so it conducts daily monitoring of air quality.

Cheng Dawei said that the local drainage system is relatively complicated, and a water conservancy ditch was built illegally in the early stage, and the accumulation of garbage may also be the source of the odor in the long run. The Environmental Protection Bureau will find out the real cause of the odor along the line this time.

Weng Zhenzhou said that yesterday it was found that the real source of pollution was illegal discharge, and he hoped that the city government would handle the odor problem carefully so that the public would not be disturbed by the odor again after two weeks.

Cheng Dawei pointed out that yesterday’s investigation of the odor flowing along the rainwater sewers has found the target. The Tandigou case brought by Weng Zhenzhou has also found the target. The city government will issue fines. Tandigou and Taliaokengxi will go to the watershed management platform for follow-up The city government has Chengli Environmental Inspection Serious Crime Team, and there are surveillance cameras along the route. If there is any pollution in New Taipei City, the Environmental Protection Bureau will definitely catch someone and issue a fine.
