Bhubaneswar:
Odisha Chief Minister
(Odisha CM)
Naveen Patnaik
(Naveen Patnaik)
left for a four-day visit to the national capital on Wednesday, triggering speculation in political circles in the state.
Now the news is coming that Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik
will meet
PM Narendra Modi in Delhi today.
Patnaik had met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a day earlier.
While the Chief Minister's Office said that Patnaik has several official engagements with Union ministers during his visit to Delhi, sources in the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) claimed that he may also meet political leaders from other parties.
Patnaik will return to Odisha on 13 May.
Patnaik's sudden visit to Delhi fueled speculation that the BJD president might meet some opposition leaders.
He is already in touch with Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee on forming an opposition group ahead of the 2024 elections.
The Odisha Chief Minister's move is seen to be aimed at sending a message to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has become its most aggressive foe in Odisha ahead of the 2024 general elections.
