The Varna District Court approved an agreement reached between the prosecutor's office and three men accused of complicity in growing 220 plants of the hemp (marijuana) genus and distributing the prohibited substance, the court's press service reported.

The three defendants - Biser T., Martin T. and Momchil G. - admitted their guilt and refused to consider the case under the general procedure.

With an agreement reached, the parties accepted as undisputed and categorically established that from an unspecified date in January to April 8, 2022 in Varna, the three of them grew and kept marijuana with different contents of the active narcotic substance tetrahydrocannabinol for a total value of BGN 10,534.68.

BTA recalls that on April 9 last year, the police in Varna reported that two marijuana greenhouses were discovered during a specialized operation.

They found drugs in the home of the 50-year-old man from Varna who shot at a patrol

Under the court-approved plea agreement, each of the defendants agreed to serve the most severe of their drug cultivation, possession and distribution sentences, namely "imprisonment" for a term of one year and 11 months, to be suspended for four years of probation.

The cumulative fine penalty was not imposed on the defendants.

A court-approved settlement has the effect of a final judgment.
