Turkey has expressed hope for at least a two-month extension of the grain deal, which expires on May 18.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced this to journalists today after his return from Moscow, where four-party talks on Syria were held, TASS reported.

"I hope that a positive result will be achieved during the meeting in Istanbul. We think the matter will be finalized by our president (Recep Erdogan) in his conversation with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and the deal will be extended for at least two months," Cavusoglu said.

According to him, on the Russian and Turkish sides, the deputy ministers of foreign affairs are participating in the negotiations, and on the Ukrainian side - the deputy minister of infrastructure.

Çavuşoğlu announced that he discussed the issue of extending the grain deal in Moscow with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

According to the Turkish first diplomat, bilateral, regional issues, as well as the situation in Ukraine and the Caucasus, were also discussed at this meeting, BTA reports.
