Minister Kondov stated that he considers such a measure as unfounded and incompatible with the European principles and norms that the Republic of North Macedonia has committed to comply with.

On the Bulgarian side, it was stated that it is unacceptable to draw up banning lists for citizens of an EU member state, and the MFA expects to be informed of the criteria according to which Bulgarian citizens and European parliamentarians are included in such lists.

Minister Kondov emphasized that similar actions of official institutions in the Republic of North Macedonia, which are not happening for the first time, have a negative impact among the Bulgarian public and cause indisputable damage to the building of good neighborly relations between the two countries.

Already on May 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria published a position on its website in which it expressed strong disappointment with the decision of the authorities in the Republic of North Macedonia to take these actions.
