The President of the European Commission,

Ursula von der Leyen

, said that the 11th package of EU sanctions against Russia will expand the current bans and close opportunities to circumvent the sanctions.

She said this on Tuesday, May 9, during a briefing.

"We continue to do everything in our power to undermine Putin's war machine and his revenues," she said.

The 11th package will contain three key elements:

  • clarification of existing instruments, adding more products to the EU transit ban;

  • proposal of a new tool for combating sanctions evasion;

  • a proposal to ban "shadow" organizations from Russia and third countries that deliberately circumvent EU sanctions.

We will remind you that the next package of sanctions against Russia, which the European Union plans to introduce,

will be aimed at blocking the ways of circumventing the already introduced restrictions.
