[Reporter Chen Yun/Taipei Report] New Taipei Mayor Hou Youyi, who is expected to be recruited by the Kuomintang to run for president, stated for the first time yesterday that he "does not agree with one country, two systems" and "does not support Taiwan independence."

The Democratic Progressive Party now doubts that the 1992 Consensus is one country, two systems, and Hou Youyi's cross-Strait stance and proposition still avoids the important and ignores the 1992 Consensus, bypassing former President Ma Ying-jeou and deliberately avoiding the 1992 Consensus.

Democratic Progressive Party spokesperson Lin Chuyin pointed out that Chinese President Xi Jinping had already set the tone in early 2019. The "1992 Consensus" was "one country, two systems," and such a proposition was not accepted by the people of Taiwan at all; The "1992 Consensus" has illusions, and is even willing to fall into the political framework set by the other side and obey and cooperate with the CCP's performance.

Lin Chuyin questioned whether Hou Youyi could muster up the courage to also express his position to the CCP, saying that the KMT opposes the "1992 Consensus" unilaterally defined by China?

Lin Chuyin emphasized that Ma Ying-jeou has recently repeatedly promoted the so-called "1992 Consensus" and "one China" in China and internationally. He not only openly accepted the "One China Principle" that the CCP advocates that "Taiwan is part of the People's Republic of China", but also said that " The 1992 Consensus has come alive again."

May I ask Hou Youyi whether he is willing to continue to accept what the former President Ma said?

Lin Chuyin said that the "one country, two systems" advocated by the CCP is to eliminate Taiwan's sovereignty and have no room for the existence of the Republic of China. If Hou Youyi also opposes it, he should responsibly propose specific and pragmatic methods. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the public to believe it, let alone persuade it.

Lin Chuyin questioned that the "1992 Consensus" is "one country, two systems", and Hou Youyi has continued to avoid the question of whether to accept the "1992 Consensus". Is it another farce to cheat votes?
