Some Western politicians are warning Ukraine against liberating the occupied peninsula because of Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons in response, Tamila Tasheva, the president's representative in Crimea, said.

Will Putin really be able to "catch" with nuclear weapons in the event of the loss of "sacred" Crimea, Ihor Petrenko, an expert of the "United Ukraine" Analytical Center, told FreeDom.

"There remains a number of (Western. - Ed.) politicians who pick up on this topic and use it, including for their own political purposes. As a rule, these are either opposition political parties or marginal political parties that are looking for their niche... Plus I I do not rule out that such an argument can be used... in non-public discussions of the supply of weapons and the expansion of the range of weapons that Ukraine receives," says Petrenko.

In his opinion, the argument about the sacredness of Crimea for Putin is "just talk."

The expert emphasizes that Putin is afraid of a clash with NATO, which is exactly what will happen if he uses nuclear weapons.

"Undoubtedly, they are already doing this on their TV channels: they are not fighting with Ukraine, but with NATO. But I think that they are panickingly afraid of an open conflict with NATO, because they understand that in the current situation in the Russian Federation, this will be detrimental to it." says the analyst.

According to Petrenko, the Kremlin's nuclear blackmail is losing its power, especially against the background of the weakness of the Russian army.

"No one tells Ukraine anymore not to shoot somewhere, not to do something.

The position voiced by the partners: Ukraine has the right to defend itself as it deems necessary... This is the main approach for today," the expert concluded.

Nuclear weapons in Crimea: Putin's bluff or a real threat

Earlier, military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko explained whether Putin will deploy nuclear weapons in Crimea.

Andriy Yusov, the spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, warned that Putin could use Crimea and Belarus for nuclear provocations.

Military expert Ihor Romanenko suggested that Russia could have deployed nuclear weapons in Kaliningrad and Crimea.

In turn, Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stated that he considers the nuclear blackmail of the Russian Federation a bluff.
