The drone attack on the Kremlin could be the result of the activity of local resistance forces or clashes in the "towers" of the Russian government, and Ukraine is not involved in this.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, told about this in an interview with "RBK-Ukraine".

In particular, Yusov explained why it made no sense for Ukraine to attack the Kremlin.

"There is an official position of Ukraine, official officials: no,

they are not involved and there is no need for this

. Because the measures of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces are aimed at the de-occupation, liberation of Ukrainian territories and neutralization of the enemy's military facilities," the intelligence representative said.

He added that it would be strange if Ukraine spent time and effort to organize and conduct such an "information and propaganda campaign".

"Exactly this event

cannot be interpreted as an attempt on Putin

, as Russian propaganda presented it very quickly and very quickly," Yusov noted.

Who can be behind the attack on the Kremlin

The attack on the Kremlin can be interpreted as an internal Russian confrontation.

"What was it?

It could have been different scenarios

- from the activity of local resistance forces to clashes between the "towers" of the Kremlin. Because in any case, if it is interpreted as an internal Russian confrontation (which it is), then this is such an event , which is working to delegitimize Putin's regime and shows that he is not in control of the situation," the GUR representative expressed his opinion.

He also commented on the version of the Institute for the Study of War that the drone attack could have been organized by the Kremlin as a provocation before the next wave of mobilization in Russia.

"It is likely. But when we talk about the Kremlin, we must remember that it has different "towers" and different people live in them, often with different, and sometimes even with opposing interests. Therefore, the residents of certain "towers" could

well to be involved in this

," Yusov said.

Drone attack on the Kremlin: what is known

Two powerful explosions rang out near the Kremlin wall on the night of May 3 and thick smoke rose into the sky, and the lighting of the wall turned off.

The press service of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, said that it seems that the Ukrainians staged a drone attack to kill the head of the Kremlin.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that "we are not attacking Putin or Moscow, we are fighting on our own territory, defending our villages and cities."

According to the Institute for the Study of War, Russia itself could have staged this attack in order to communicate the war to a domestic audience and create the conditions for a wider public mobilization.
