The Kotelevsky District Court of the Poltava Region sentenced to 13 years imprisonment a collaborator who, during the occupation of the village of Borov in the Kharkiv Region, agreed to work in the so-called "people's militia" and took his fellow villagers to prison. 

This is stated in the court verdict. 

The court documents indicate that in April 2022, Russian invaders and gang formations of the fake "L/DPR" occupied the village of Borov, Kharkiv region.

Approximately in May 2022, a local resident, who is a native of the Mykolaiv region, agreed to work in the so-called

"people's militia"

, which was created by the occupiers in the temporarily occupied Borova. 

At the court, the suspect

pleaded not guilty

and stated that he was allegedly forced to work in a fake structure of the occupiers.

He claimed that he agreed to work for Russia because he feared for the lives of his roommate, her children and grandchildren.

The collaborator explained that he was not carrying a weapon, but only a bandage.

His "salary" was given in food, in total

he worked for the occupiers for 2.5 months. 

Witnesses during the court session confirmed that the suspect worked for the occupiers.

One of the men said that the traitor wore a black uniform with a red armband.

When he was detained and placed in the torture chamber of the occupiers, he accompanied him to the cell.

He added that the traitor still treated him adequately and asked if the illegally arrested people needed medicine or water. 

Another eyewitness explained that she saw the suspect near the premises where the occupants were.

She added that from the words of the neighbors she heard how the traitor said that

"he made his choice and this is Russia"

Locals also explained that they saw a collaborator with a machine gun on his shoulder, and that he "behaved like an elder" in the premises where Ukrainians were illegally detained.

Most of the witnesses noted that the suspect was not aggressive and brought people water and packages from relatives. 

The court found the suspect guilty under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to

13 years in prison with confiscation of all property. 

Crimes of the occupiers in the village of Borova in the Kharkiv region

The occupiers captured Borova in April 2022.

On October 4, 2022, it became known that the ZSU had liberated the village. 

After the liberation of the Armed Forces of the Kharkiv region, the Armed Forces of the Kharkiv region discovered mass graves and numerous war crimes committed by the Russians during the occupation. 

It is known that in the village of Borova, the police found the bodies of three people tortured by the occupiers, including the applicant's grandson, in a pit.

After the liberation of the village, the woman rushed to look for him and found his body in the torture pit.

According to the police, the boy had fifteen gunshot wounds.

Two more who died next to him were handcuffed to each other.

Law enforcement officers informed a 33-year-old man, who held the position of director of the Palace of Culture in the village of Borova, Izyum district, on suspicion of collaborative activity.
