"Night Bakhmut" - a special operation with that name was carried out the day before by our soldiers in cooperation with the police, Cordovans and the State Emergency Service.

The purpose of the event is surprisingly difficult and dangerous - to take out civilians from the western part of Bakhmut in the dark, who only recently agreed to the evacuation.

Unfortunately, for one woman, that many-month delay cost her life, just during the operation, TSN reports.

"Now our evacuation groups, reserve groups, cover for special forces, as well as additional groups of paramedics will be involved.

Now let's plan all this, and God willing, we will manage to save people," said the head of the Donetsk region police, Ruslan Osypenko, at a joint meeting.

The actions of each of the groups are discussed almost minute by minute and the operation begins at midnight.

The groups report that they managed to pick up five, but not all of them made it.

The car comes under fire.

"Sasha is with her mother, her mother died," people say.

Civilians are quickly transferred to the bus, where the body of the deceased is loaded.

Then - the road to the rear.

Everyone has a small bag - everything they took from their past life, and also memories that you can't forget even if you want to.

"the first car burned down, it got into the first car, there was no one there, in the car, we were just standing, and my mother is disabled, she can't walk, and I was sitting in the back seat of the second car, and a piece of debris flew through the glass, my mother killed", Oleksandr tells about the tragedy.

During the document check, the police ask each of the men - "why did it take so long to evacuate?"

After all, there were hundreds of opportunities to leave earlier, without exposing yourself or the military and police to danger.

"I could not go earlier because of my duty as a priest, I fulfilled it, and now the Lord has decided that I am here," says one of the evacuees.

Then the men will be taken to the point of redistribution of displaced persons.

Three of them have families who left Bakhmut earlier.

Mr. Oleksandr has no relatives left.

Hundreds of civilians still remain in the war-torn Bakhmut.
