In Belgium, seven suspected terrorists linked to the "Islamic State" and preparing an attack were detained, local media reported, citing a statement from the federal prosecutor's office, BTA reports.

It is specified that the suspects did not yet have a target in mind, but were looking for weapons.

Most of those captured are Chechens, and three of them have Belgian citizenship.

If the court decides, the detainees may be accused of preparing and attempting to carry out a terrorist attack, as well as participating in the activities of a terrorist group.

It is specified that, for the time being, the Belgian services do not foresee an increase in preparedness for a terrorist attack for the time being.

A month ago, Belgian authorities reported a foiled attempt to assassinate the mayor of Antwerp.

In this case, seven suspects were detained again, including a Bulgarian citizen, several Belgians and a Turk.
