A gift to the fighter from 9-year-old Sofiyka became a talisman for him, which saved his life more than once.

Half a year ago, 9-year-old Sofiyka, together with her classmates, sent letters to the front lines through volunteers.

The girl put a rosary in the envelope.

The letter reached Daniil, and he began to carry the rosary with him in every battle.

He was injured, survived, and is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Lviv - that's where Sofiyka lives, so they managed to get to know each other, TSN reports.

"We wanted to put something special, so we put a rosary there," the girl says.

"This letter moved me very much, I kept it in my assault backpack until we went to Bakhmut, where it was already burned," says Daniil.

The rosary is still with him.

She is like a talisman, says the soldier.

In the fiercest battles, he came out alive "On March 27, I went in with my comrades, I lost a friend.

That is, we entered five, lost three.

By that time, there were already wounded, we went in to carry out the wounded.

I already thought that I wouldn't get out of there either", - this is how a military man describes just one of such amazing rescues in Kreminnaya.

Daniil is sure that the rosary helped him survive under Bakhmut.

"We were fired upon, and one of the ammunition hit right under my feet, I don't know how I didn't get hit by a single piece of shrapnel.

I consider it a real miracle, because there is such a flight trajectory that it will surely hit," the military man assures.

Daniil is 24 years old, he comes from Kherson.

He was a sailor before the war, but he changed the endless sea to the steppes of Donbas in April.

"I returned from a flight, I was a sailor, I generally live in Kherson.

I went on a flight for 7 months, when I arrived here, Kherson was occupied," he says.

Sofiyka learned from her classmate's father, who was also at the front, that the soldier wanted to meet her and thank her for the amulet.

"Very great joy, good news, I cried, I just couldn't stop," says the schoolgirl's mother.

Volunteers say that letters from children inspire the defenders a lot, they carry the drawings with them in their pockets and hang them in the dugouts.

"They thank you very much, because they see why they are there," Vasyl adds.

Today it is Sophia's turn to receive a gift from the soldier, he signs her a big blue and yellow flag.

He will be in Lviv on rotation for some time, and later he will return to the front.
