A donation campaign for the restoration of the "Saint Mina" temple in the capital is starting today, announced the administration of the "Slatina" region.

BGN 150,000 is needed for the most urgent restoration activities. A total of BGN 900,000 is needed for complete reconstruction and restoration.

The campaign is being carried out on the initiative of the chairman of the Association "National Association for the Prevention of Lung Diseases", Dr. Sofia Angelova, with the active support of the mayor of the "Slatina" district, Georgi Iliev, as well as the chairman of the "For Slatina" Association, Lyuben Vukov.

The campaign will continue until the end of May.

A charity concert is scheduled for May 31, in which a number of famous Bulgarian artists will take part.

Funds are being collected for the completion of the frescoes in the cathedral "St.

St. Cyril and Methodius" in Lovech

The temple "St. Mina" in the "Slatina" area has a centuries-old history.

In the 14th century, the monastery "St. Troitsa" built there was destroyed, but in the 19th century, with the help of the residents of the then village "Slatina", the church "St.

Trinity' has been restored.

Later, the church was renamed "St. Therapontius of Serdiki" in honor of the saint who lost his life in this place, because of his refusal to surrender his faith. In 1955, the church was declared a monument of culture, and three years later was renamed and today bears the name of the holy great martyr Mina.In 1989, the temple was also recognized as an architectural and artistic monument, writes BTA.

The capital district "Slatina" is one of the 24 administrative districts of the Capital Municipality and includes the neighborhoods "Slatina", "Hristo Botev", "Hristo Smirnenski", "Reduta", "Geo Milev" and part of "Yavorov".

The population of the region is nearly 75 thousand people.
