TANZANIA has requested to be the permanent Headquarters of the Committee of the Council of Sports Experts Region IV Africa, the aim is to further improve the sports sector in the region.

Secretary General Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, Said Yakubu said this today while opening the meeting of the committee where its members are Sports Directors in 14 countries of Zone IV Africa.

Yakubu said Tanzania has officially submitted a request to the committee for the headquarters of the committee to be in Arusha Tanzania.

He said one of the characteristics of Tanzania is to have sports diplomacy, Tanzania is improving sports infrastructure and the sports industry is in the region, especially in women's soccer for all ages.

The Secretary General said that the Committee of experts has prepared a constitution which is expected to be blessed by the Ministers of Sports, Culture and Arts from the 14 countries of Zone IV Africa.

He said apart from that the committee has improved the operation of the committee so that it can go with when the goal is to promote all sports in zone IV Africa unlike in the past.

Yakubu said that at the meeting of Ministers of Sports, Culture and Arts of the 14 countries of the IV region of Africa that is expected to be held tomorrow, Prime Minister Kassimu Majaliwa is expected to be an official guest.

He said the meeting was last held in Uganda in 2018 before the outbreak of the COVID 19 disease and now it is being held in the country in the city of Arusha and more than 300 guests from the region are meeting.

He said that the Council is an organ of the African Union (AU) that deals with sports and there are various other regions within the Council that include other countries that are members of the AU.

He said and named 14 countries including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibout, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Seychleys and until yesterday eight countries have confirmed to participate in the meeting.

Yakubu said that in the meeting, the leaders of the federations of all sports associations will also participate in the meeting, the Chief Leaders of the Sports Council {BMT} and the chief leaders of the Zanzibar Sports Council {BMZ} and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Arts Zanzibar will also participate.

He also said that the leaders of the football associations of Kenya and Uganda have also been invited to the meeting, the aim of which is to ask all EAC countries to fully participate in the meeting.

The Acting Director of the Department of Sports Development in the Country, Ally Mayai said that the main agenda of the meeting of the Committee of Sports experts in the IV Africa Region is to adopt the constitutional proposals before being blessed by the General Meeting of the Council of Ministers Sports of the Region which is expected to be held tomorrow In the city of Arusha.

Mayai said the adoption of the constitution will increase cooperation in the sports sector and many countries have progressed because of cooperation by building and managing the work plan for the Development of the Zone.

He said that some of the members in the meeting have said that Tanzania in the IV Africa region leads the people and professionals who love sports.
