Hou Youyi: The city government will continue to track the progress

Hou Youyi, Mayor of New Taipei City, said that the project was led by the Ministry of Culture, and the bidding was suspended due to the change of the plan. The city government will continue to track the progress, but the power and responsibility rests with the central government. Zhang Yiyu explained that the tender for the supervision and design was announced in February this year, but some of the content involved adjustments, and the tender is currently suspended.

The selection of architects is expected to be completed before the end of the year

The Ministry of Culture pointed out that the public construction design of the Children's Future Museum was approved by the Executive Yuan in August 2021. In January this year, it was approved to increase the funding to more than 16.4 billion yuan. Currently, pre-operations for the selection of architects are underway. After several adjustments, the National Children's Future Museum construction plan was approved on August 6, 2021. Lin Wenzhong, Chief of the Cultural Facilities Section of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, explained that in June last year, he handled the public viewing of the turnkey project before bidding, but it did not enter the bidding process. Because the central government adjusted the plan schedule and funds, it was later called for bidding with supervisory design. During the 2018 mayoral election campaign in New Taipei City, this case once became an issue of blue-green confrontation. Hou Youyi proposed to build an audio-visual technology innovation base and create an indoor children's playground; then Hou's opponent in the election, former Premier Su Zhenchang proposed to build a parent-child experience Museum, and said he took office for 100 days to solve the land problem.
