[Reporter Fang Zhixian/Kaohsiung Report] Linyuan Wetland has the most abundant jellyfish ecology in Taiwan. The teachers and students of Qianzhen High School participated in the international virtual science seminar based on the rich and diverse jellyfish ecology, habitat and sustainability of Linyuan. 253 research reports from 27 countries around the world were selected, and won the highest honor of 4 stars, and 3 students were awarded the NASA GLOBE Young Outstanding Scientist Certificate, which is the pride of Taiwanese students.

The 2023 GLOBE International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) International Virtual Science Symposium announced the list of winners on the 22nd of last month. 1,453 students from 27 countries submitted 253 research reports, and 23 research reports submitted by Taiwan were approved by the international jury and won badge.

Among them, two works of Qianzhen High School won the highest honor of 4 stars and three additional medals. The works are: The Investigation On And The Sustainable Management of The Jellyfish Lake. ), the author Wu Nianyi, a sophomore student, and the instructor Liu Yuhong.

Another work, Exploring the Factors Affecting the Status of Cassiopea andromeda (Upside-down jellyfish) under Environmental Change, was written by Gao Shengqiu Ruoyu Qiu and Lin Xinliang, and also won the highest score of 4 stars Honor, instructors Liu Yuhong, Chen Peizhen, Li Guanwei.

In the research and investigation of 2 works about Linyuan jellyfish, the students found that Kaohsiung's water quality and climate are the most direct environmental factors. Among them, the Cassia Queen's jellyfish population is suitable for living in weakly alkaline water quality areas and Guangyan areas, and the water temperature is about 19-26 degrees Celsius. °C, the concentration of organic pollutants is low, and the Cassiopeia jellyfish population has a good tolerance to other environmental factors.

The students also expressed the hope that through the overall construction of the community, economic and tourism benefits can be improved, so that more people can understand that Linyuan Wetland has the most abundant jellyfish ecology in Taiwan, and jointly cherish and protect the ecological sustainability; the survey report is complete and detailed, in line with ecological sustainability Idea and spirit.

At Qianzhen High School, teachers such as Liu Yuhong, Chen Peizhen, and Li Guanwei guided students to conduct observation and essay writing training courses, and encouraged students to participate in the IVSS. Because they needed to write research reports in English, the students were timid before the competition. With the encouragement of the teachers, the students Overcoming the language barrier was willing to challenge this activity and achieved great results.
