[Reporter Liu Wanjun/Tainan Report] In the alley of Dawu Street behind the Daqiao Railway Station in Yongkang District, Tainan City, a big banyan tree suddenly collapsed for unknown reasons this morning (30th), crushing the awning of a nearby house and a locomotive It was affected, but fortunately no one was injured.

At around 10:30 this morning, a loud bang frightened the nearby residents. People ran out to have a look and found that the old banyan tree had collapsed, and part of the trunk was pressed against the rain shelter of the houses, causing damage to the rain shelter. Wu Hexiang and the police officers from the police station rushed to the scene after receiving the report, set up a blockade and guided people and vehicles to detour.

Wu Hexiang said that there are often public activities under this big banyan tree, and the houses affected are rented student dormitories. Fortunately, there was no one at the scene at the time of the incident and no casualties were caused.

The Yongkang District Office pointed out that this area is a cul-de-sac and not a road, and only the PC road is used for motorcycles. At present, it has assisted in closing the road and suspending motorcycle traffic.

The banyan tree is not a street tree. The land where it is located is owned by the State-owned Property Administration and is leased to palaces and temples. It involves property damage and tree cleanup, and will be coordinated with the State-owned Property Administration in the future.
