The gas interconnector connecting Serbia and Bulgaria is about 40 percent ready.

This was stated today by the Minister of Mining Industry and Energy of Serbia, Dubravka Jedovic, for Tanjug Agency.

“The work is ongoing and is currently approximately 40 percent complete.

The construction of this link will connect Serbia with gas sources in the Caspian Sea and also with LNG terminals in Greece.

This project is very important for gas diversification as it provides additional sources of gas and additional security of gas supply.

We depend on the import of this source of energy and we need to have more sources of supply," explained Jedovic, quoted by BTA.

Earlier, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that Serbia will become a transit country for gas supplies to other Western Balkan countries thanks to the intersystem gas pipeline between Serbia and Bulgaria.
