Lviv neurosurgeons of St. Nicholas Hospital performed brain surgery with awakening - AWAKE SURGERY.

"Maxim's childhood passed with strict restrictions, under the constant supervision of his mother, who watched over her son around the clock and feared for his life. In recent years, it became difficult for the young man to speak and remember," the doctors say.

Before his illness, the boy was engaged in dancing and dreamed of becoming a champion.

Now he couldn't even run anymore.

What's more, laughter or tears could also trigger an attack.

Later, it became difficult for the young man to speak and remember, because the tumor in the brain grew and the attacks intensified.

"The formation began to put pressure on the areas of the brain responsible for speech and movements. There was a high risk of paralysis of the right half of the body. Maksym's mother could not accept this and turned to Lviv doctors," the experts added.

During the main part of the operation, the patient had to be conscious.

It was necessary to wake him up in order to control speech and movements and not to damage the parts of the brain that are responsible for them.

A week has passed since the intervention and the boy is ready to be discharged from the hospital.

"We are happy! We came sick, but we are leaving healthy," says his mother.

No more epileptic seizures.

We will remind, earlier in Lviv, doctors saved a boy with lightning meningitis.

A runny nose and chronic sinusitis led to a critical condition.
