All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday said the party will welcome anyone who accepts its ideology and follows the party leadership.

Addressing reporters here, Kharge said that he cannot predict what will happen in politics in future.

On Eshwarappa's statement, Kharge said, "I have no predictions and we have not taken anyone into the party after testing their blood.

If they accept our ideology, they are welcome."

On Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's comment that the support of Lingayats would increase the number of BJP MLAs, Kharge said this showed that the government headed by him did not do any work on the ground.

He said, “It is clear that the BJP has not done any development work.

He is not claiming that the BJP will come to power on the basis of his work.

He said, “Political parties should work on their ideology.

If a party contests elections on the basis of caste or religion, it is not good for the country and democracy." Kharge is on a two-day tour of the coastal districts of Karnataka as part of campaigning for the May 10 polls.
